Chip removal and dust extraction are critical issues affecting environmental pollution and operator health. Wet-type systems typically remove chips using a water-flow setup, whereas dry-type systems require a dedicated dust extraction unit.
Wet-Type Water Application
When using a tap-water connection, the equipment usually comes with the necessary fittings. Secure one end of the hose to the faucet and firmly attach the other end to the machine's spray nozzle, tightening it securely with a clamp. Water flow begins once both the faucet and the valve on the machine's attachment are opened; the flow rate should be adjusted to a moderate level.
If using a water reservoir (such as a tank or jug), the container should generally be positioned at least 80 mm above the work surface to ensure adequate water pressure and flow.
Dry-Type Dust Extraction
The simplest method is to use a dust collection bag. Otherwise, a separate dust extraction system must be installed, particularly for long-term operations.
